AYSO 500 Jackson Northwest

When does the season begin?

·       The fall season begins after Labor Day and concludes the last weekend of October.

·       The spring season starts after spring break and ends before Memorial weekend.

How many games should we expect?

·       Anticipate six games each season, but this depends on the number of teams from other AYSO regions.

My child is 6, why are they in the 8U division and not 6U?

·       Your child is placed based on their birth year. For example, a child born December 23, 2019 would be too old to play in the 6U division for the Fall 25 - Spring 26 season because they would turn 7 during the season and would be placed in the 8U division.

Is there travel?

·       Playground, U6, U8 Division’s do not travel and play behind the Early Elementary

·       U10-U14 teams will travel to neighboring regions. (Albion, Grass Lake, Western, St. Johns, Charlotte)

Where do the player fees go?

·       Except for the $25 National Fee 100% of all registration fees stay in our community and go towards the following:

o   Field paint

o   Replacing equipment (balls, field flags, pinnies, etc.)

o   Nets for goals

o   Player Jerseys

o   Required AYSO trainings and Expo attendance for the Region Commissioner and certain board members

What if my player changes their mind about playing?

·       The Board will review refund requests on a case-by-case basis.

Are coaches paid?

·       No. All AYSO Coaches, Refs, & Board Members are volunteers.

How can I volunteer?

·       When registering your player, you can sign up to volunteer for multiple opportunities including coaching, fundraising, and board membership among others.

How else can I help if I’m unable to commit to volunteering?

·       We strive to keep the costs down for our soccer families. This includes asking for donations and sponsorships from the local community. If you or your business is interested in donating, please contact us at: [email protected]

Why AYSO Region 500?

·       AYSO is founded on six philosophies: Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development.

These philosophies will help your child grow and develop in a positive environment while playing fellow friends and classmates. Everyone plays ensures your child will play 50% of the game. Looking for something more competitive? Our region also offers an Alliance option to help continue your players development at a more competitive level if that’s what you’re looking for.

What’s Alliance?

·       Alliance is a tryout-based program for players/teams who want to play in either internal or external competitive gaming circuits. Tryouts will take place in early June.
